Munnar Shivers at Minus Degrees…

Munnar witnessed sub-zero temperatures or some days minus temperatures from the last few weeks. Grasslands and tea plantations are covered with snow and look as frost carpet. This is the first time in several years that Munnar ,Top Station is experiencing continuous cold and frost. In Kerala, this is the lowest temperature in this season. The snowfall in Munnar is getting badly affected in the tea plantation area, they are facing huge losses. However, tourism in Munnar is booming, and getting back on track after flood and rain. Tourist arrivals to Munnar, Top Station, Vattavada, Pampadum Shola National Park and surrounding places is increasing day by day to see the frost-covered hills. Munnar Hotel and Resorts Association President Mr. V V George said at press meeting “Most of the hotels and resorts are fully booked in the last two weeks and have a good number of bookings for the coming days as well. We are expecting this will continue in the next weeks also.
